The term "oriented aroace" refers to strictly aromantic and asexual individuals who experience attraction that is neither romantic nor sexual but is significant enough to warrant a place alongside their aroace orientation.[source?] An oriented aroace person may identify as any other orientation in addition to their aroace identity (e.g. gay aroace, bi aroace, etc.). This identity should not be used by aroace-spec individuals, as it was created specifically for use by strictly aroace people.[source?]

The term "angled aroace" refers to individuals on the aromantic or asexual spectrum who are not strictly both aromantic and asexual but experience some sort of attraction that is significant enough to warrant a place alongside their aroace identity. An angled aroace person may identify as any other orientation in addition to their aroace identity (e.g. gay aroace, bi aroace, etc.). The term "angled aroace" was coined in 2019 by Tumblr user black-aros after finding out that the oriented aroace identity did not include aroace-spec individuals.[1]
