In hindsight,
Of course I knew I was tripping over myself.

Blathering blasphemy
So that people might like me,
Only to be met with awkward stares—
A sinking feeling that

No one really cares,
About snitches and stitches.

Pretty faces distract from
The fact that I don’t rat them
out—
side,
It’s cooler than in
This stuffy room, I’ve been

Drinking in the sight of
The sun at dawn and dusk.
Somedays, I fear that my body
Is no more than a husk, that cradles
My empty feelings,
My blandish words.
My motivation,
Clear as a blur.

I fall short in every category;
Don’t blame me for not reaching for the stars.

When night falls, and midnight breathes
Into the sky and out again,
I’m alone once more.
Though I try to pretend
